History

Origin

The Jazzclub 14 Foundation in Swalmen organized a total of eight three-day jazz festivals between 2016 and 2025.

The first four editions took place on the grounds of Meneerkes, a café-restaurant in Leeuwen – Roermond, located along the river Meuse near the Willem-Alexander industrial area.

Reconsideration

In 2020 and 2021, no festival could be organized due to regulations related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This pause became a moment of reflection for the organization — many considerations were weighed. Should we move to a different location where admission fees could be charged? At Meneerkes, this was not possible, as the owners at the time were not open to that option. In the end, the decision was made to continue the festival at the event site “De Sjtasie” in Swalmen.

New location

The site proved ideal for hosting a somewhat larger event, with excellent accessibility thanks to both a bus and train station within walking distance, as well as ample parking for cars and bicycles on-site.

From 2022 to 2025, the organization worked hard to make this location a success. Unfortunately, public interest remained too low to cover the costs.
