The Jazzclub 14 Foundation is an initiative by jazz enthusiast Ferd Geisler, who in 2016 aimed to respond to the lack of a jazz festival in the Central Limburg region. Partly due to a declining number of venues provided by the local hospitality sector, it became increasingly difficult for both musicians and audiences to enjoy jazz music in Central Limburg. The foundation therefore set itself the goal of supporting jazz and jazz-related music in the region.
Between 2016 and 2025, the Jazzclub 14 Foundation organized no fewer than eight editions of a vibrant three-day jazz festival. The first four editions took place on the grounds of café-restaurant Meneerkes along the Meuse in Leeuwen – Roermond. After a forced break in 2020 and 2021 (due to the COVID-19 pandemic), the festival moved to “De Sjtasie” in Swalmen: a central location with greater potential, but unfortunately, public interest fell short of expectations.
